The Arenal Café lives to the rhythm of the seasons. Every month, Nuria and her team organise events that bring together guests, village locals and passing travellers. Here is what awaits you throughout the year.
January
Calçotada evenings
The Catalan tradition of fire-grilled calçots, served with homemade romesco sauce. A convivial evening to kick off the year.
February
Pals Carnival
The café joins in the village carnival with entertainment, music and costumes. The festive atmosphere takes over the terrace.
March
Musical spring
Acoustic evening concerts to celebrate the return of warmer days. Guitar, jazz and local voices in the intimate setting of the café.
April
Easter week
Special Easter brunch and family activities. The mona de Pascua, the traditional Catalan Easter cake, takes centre stage.
May
Fira de Pals
The café joins the village's annual fair. Tastings of local produce, Empordà crafts and guaranteed good cheer.
June
Sant Joan
The night of Sant Joan, the most magical of the year in Catalonia. The café hosts its own verbena with music, coca de Sant Joan and bonfires.
July
Summer nights
Late-night tapas and cocktails on the terrace. Weekend DJ sets and a guaranteed Mediterranean atmosphere.
August
Festa Major de Pals
The village's big festival, with concerts, sardanes, correfocs and street entertainment. The café becomes the hub of the festivities.
September
Harvest and gastronomy
Wine tasting from the Empordà and a special seasonal menu. The café celebrates the grape harvest with local winemakers.
October
Castanyada
The Catalan All Saints' tradition: roasted chestnuts, panellets and muscatel. The café dresses in its autumn colours.
November
Literary evenings
Book club and meetings with local authors. The café returns to its cosy atmosphere for evenings by the fire.
December
Christmas markets
The café hosts a small artisan Christmas market. Mulled wine, handmade gifts and a festive atmosphere to end the year in style.
